It's suffering that woke
It’s suffering that woke my soul

Surrounded by a bitter chill
Too numb to see I'd grown ill
Becoming attached to misery
Beginning to lose pieces of me

Till one day I was frozen still
Watching as my frostbitten skin fell
It hardened, then shattered and decomposed
Nearly flat lined

Through the pain that I faced
It was the suffering that woke my soul
Through the pain that I faced
I had to be broken bone by bone

Every part of me worth keeping
Alive through the cold’s clеansing
Found a way to withstand the freeze
To survive through thе refining

And everything else faded away
Into an endless snowing plain
Like cutting off impurities
Even though it makes me bleed

I wanted to die (live, die)
But you helped me

Through the pain that I faced
It was the suffering that woke my soul
Through the pain that I faced
I had to be broken bone by bone

You walked me through the misery
You broke my frame to wake my soul
You saw the hate destroying me
And found a way to bring me home
Shed the scales of weakness covering me

It might leave me wounded
But I will finally be alive
